If a body is invaded by a pathogen, and the antibody for that pathogen is already present, the body can immediately begin he process of destroying that pathogen.
There are dozens of qualifiers and complicators to that statement that we will pursue in the coming weeks, but for the time being, that is the foundation from which we will begin.
